Our hotel was originally called Shyama Resort, and was named in memory of a very remarkable woman, Dr Shyama. We have retained her name on our hotel in memory of her. April 10th is her birthday and this year 2009, is the 100th anniversary- may the inspiration of her good works live on! Dr Shyama graduated University of Indore in 1939 and went on to specialise in Gynaecology and Obstetrics, upon finishing her studies in 1942 she decided to start her practice in Pushkar, an area in need of her services. Dr Shyama spent her working life looking after the people and especially the women of this area, founding the maternity hospital next door, The Shyama Bagh Private Hospital and many other good deeds to help the local community. Her work is now carried on by her son Dr R.K. Bagh and his wife Mrs Reena Bagh. |
